As we can see from the above comments, at least one editor is already concerned about color changes to home page. These changes are part of a larger effort to finish the transition to the new skin by implementing new, natively-rectangular logos to fit in the space allowed in the so-called "wordmark" in the upper left-hand corner of the page. | |||
This new logo had a different blue to the old one, which has then had the knock-on effect of making "blue links" and blue backgrounds that used to be present on the page compete with the blue of the new logo. | |||
The orange is the natural compliment to the blue in the logo, and allows us to only change half the blue links on the page to the "new blue", but of course we're at an early stage of color-matching.
