UNIT years doesn't really work as a name for him. He has been in a few episodes that UNIT wasn't in (Frontier in Space, Colony in Space, The Sea Devils). UNIT has actually been in all of John Simm's episodes (discounting his cameo in Utopia), so technically UNIT years would apply more to John Simm's Master than Roger Delgado's Master. Also, the Master obviously didn't spend all of his time stalking the Doctor. Apart from when the Doctor stole his dematerialization circuit, the Master was presumably wandering throughout space and time, commiting evil deeds elsewhere in the universe.
