I'm not at all experiencing anything you're describing, and I haven't messed with the CSS today at all. That would be required to cause the effects you seem to be describin. Stubs are still on the outside of the page, and there's no great amount of whitespace in navboxes. Screenshots, please. But even without those screenshots, it sounds like you're experience a "wikia storm" — a temporary instance of the CSS being entirely bypassed by a bug at the wikia level.
