While exploring the mysteries of the Martian Sphinx, the Doctor, [[Louise]] and [[Susan]] are captured by [[Dalek]]s who have moved into the Sol system, closer to Earth. The Doctor and Susan escape with the help of the native Martians and are taken to a city beneath the Sphinx where the Doctor activates a dormant fighting robot lying under the Sphinx itself.
