A split-timeline doesn't really work here. Big Bang 2 isn't just a case of somebody going back in time and changing history. The original universe was completely destroyed. Nothing is happenning, has happenned, or ever will happen in that universe. However, by causing Big Bang 2, the Doctor replaced that universe with a new, identical, universe, that is exactly the same as the old universe.
