Sphere chamber

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The sphere chamber was a room located within the Torchwood Tower in Canary Wharf which housed a mysterious alien sphere that was later determined to be a Void Ship. Rajesh Singh was stationed here, having been tasked with investigating the sphere.

In 2007, the Tenth Doctor was brought to the sphere chamber, where he identified the Void Ship to Singh and Torchwood One's director, Yvonne Hartman. Soon after, Rose Tyler entered the sphere chamber while searching for the Doctor. There, she found that Samuel, assistant to Doctor Singh, was actually Mickey Smith. When the Torchwood Tower was invaded by the Cybermen, the Void Ship opened to reveal a quartet of Daleks who were identified by the Doctor as the Cult of Skaro. (TV: Army of Ghosts)

After extracting Singh's brain waves, thus killing him, the Daleks were confronted by the Cybermen. Having detected unknown technology within the sphere chamber, Cyber-Leader One dispatched units Ten-Six-Five and Ten-Six-Six to investigate. The two Cybermen, however, did not make it inside; Dalek Thay, who had himself been ordered by Dalek Sec to investigate outside, met the Cybermen. Through use of a communications barrier, the other Daleks observed Thay's contact with the Cybermen, which soon ended as Thay rejected their proposal for an alliance before exterminating them after they attacked him with no effect. With the threat posed by the Cybermen deemed irrelevant, the Daleks attempted to force Rose to open the Genesis Ark they had brought with him, only to be interrupted by the arrival of the Doctor. As the Doctor had arranged beforehand, a temporary alliance between the Preachers and the Cybermen broke into the sphere chamber and engaged the four Daleks, allowing the Doctor to escape with his companions but not before Mickey fell and briefly made contact with the Genesis Ark, infusing it with the background radiation it needed to open. Before it could do so, however, the Ark needed an area of thirty square miles, necessitating the Daleks to take it out of the sphere chamber and beyond the Torchwood Tower itself. (TV: Doomsday)
