According to one source, Sutekh was an actor who, in 1975, won the role of the leading antagonist in the television story Pyramids of Mars. In the story, he played himself, and had to convince the showrunners that he was capable of being an intimidating villain. Philip Hinchcliffe had discovered Sutekh while he performed Pantomime at Bognor Regis the year before. Hinchcliffe was impressed by Sutekh shredding the mind of Widow Twankey during a matinee performance. In actuality, this was not part of the segment, Sutekh had just been bored.

During the audition process, Hinchcliffe would often catch several things on his desk on fire to test if Sutekh could hold back the flames with the power of his mind. This resulted in the destruction of something titled Fury from the Deep.

While filming, Sutekh complained that his character was portrayed as far too evil. He suggested the changing of one line, from "I bring Sutekh's gift of death to all humanity" to "I bring Sutekh's gift of jelly to all human life." He also recommended "Ocelots" as an alternative. The suggested changes were ultimately declined. Sutekh was not involved in any of the on-location footage, and during production passed the time by playing pong.

After the serial aired, Sutekh faced constant Typecasting. The BBC later pitched several projects to him. These included Seek Sutekh, wherein Sutekh would hide in people's houses and jump out and growl at them. The series lasted one episode after he became lost in the part and murdered an elderly woman. He also produced Sutekh's Swap Shop, which also ran for one episode after a child swapped a Bunty Annual for an Osiran war missile.

Due to a disappointment in the industry, Sutekh soon became a milkman, also performing as Santa Claus around Christmas time. He dedicated his time to his passions, such as his interest in ants and art culture. He also kept a rabbit, which he refereed to as the "real plaything if Sutekh." The rabbit's name was Neil ("Neil, before the might of Sutekh")

In 2006, Sutekh was interviewed for a bonus feature on the DVD release of Pyramids of Mars. During this production, he injured himself while treading in darkness. (HOMEVID: Oh Mummy!)
