Death[[edit source]]

Doesn't "The Power of Three" confirm that he died earlier than in 2050s? 78.8.2.156talk to me 00:26, September 23, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, yes, I suppose it does. That needs to be added in somewhere. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 01:13, September 23, 2012 (UTC)

Weeeeelll.... strictly speaking, all Kate Stewart does is refer to her father talking about the Doctor "to the end". She doesn't say "he died in a nursing home just before you phoned". It could be argued that the Brig faked his death when he went offf to Avalon, or that the chances of his returning are so slim that Kate already thinks of him as dead. It's a stretch, I'll admit, but there's nothing *specific* so far (that I know of) that definitely stops the two versions of his life from being forced into consistency86.148.8.212talk to me 17:37, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Indeed, as we now know (I'm writing this more for the sake of future readers), Death in Heaven shows the Brigadier's resurrection, albeit as a Cyberman, so the Power of Three death didn't stick even by strictly-televised-New-Who continuity.
It's not hard to imagine that something offscreen happened to restore the Cyberbrig to full humanity (after all, the boy Danny killed was fully brought back to life after being a Nethersphere Cyberman, so there's a precedent even if the mechanics would have to be a little different for the Brig), bringing his timeline back into order.

Year 2021[[edit source]]

At the bottom of the page there is a note:

"The Brigadier, at Sarah Jane's wedding in 2010, is said to be back in Peru, but by 2021, his daughter Kate confirms he is dead, meaning he passed away between 2010 and 2021."

2021??? O_o I don't think The Power of Three setting is 8-9 years after 2012...--Sid-Vicious 05:00, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

2020[[edit source]]

Currently on the article it says:

Lethbridge-Stewart died sometime before 2020. (TV: The Power of Three)

Where does the date 2020 come from? It's not mentioned on The Power of Three article and there's no reference to the Brig on the 2020 article either. --Tangerineduel / talk 12:37, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

It's extrapolation. Amy says that time according to her has been ten years from "Leadworth" to that episode, meaning it's no later than 2020, and likely a lot earlier seeing as I think the end of A Town Called Mercy mentions that Amy's travelled for long enough that she may be ageing at a different rate to her friends on Earth.
No year is stated in the episode at all, but Three's mentioning the Brig's death means it can't be any later than 2020, and is almost certainly not too many years after 2012, even if Three doesn't give a specific year. -- Tybort (talk page) 14:00, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

(edit conflict)

When The Power of Three aired, there was a lot of speculation regarding its date, and while most of it has been removed from the article, some of it has crept onto other pages. This one must be an example of that. Shambala108 14:02, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

River[[edit source]]

QUOTE: "the Brigadier met more of the Doctor's incarnations than any other companion apart from Clara Oswald and River Song."

Surely River only met two incarnations so far, as far as we're aware (10 & 11)? I may have missed something but I don't remember any reference to her meeting the others. We know she didn't meet any of them pre-Tennant or he would have recognised her in Silence in the Library. She may well meet a lot of his future incarnations, but we have no way of knowing if it's going to be more than the Brig. Unless this is something that's been stated in a novel or somewhere else; the article gives no citation. 86.17.62.184talk to me 14:31, May 14, 2014 (UTC)

River supposedly meets the Doctor's past incarnations in the video game The Eternity Clock. Shambala108 03:32, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Final appearance[[edit source]]

Could the episode " The Wedding of River Song" be counted on his appearance list or... ?The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fireball99 (talk • contribs) .

I don't remember seeing him in that episode. As far as I know, he doesn't appear in any BBC Wales DW episodes. Shambala108 00:44, October 16, 2014 (UTC)
He was mentioned in the episode. The 11th was dodging his "inevitable" murder at Lake Silencio, and when he tried to visit his old friend was told that the Brigadier had died in his sleep several months before. It was a reference to Nicholas Courtenay's death, of course, but in the story it was the catalyst for the Doctor realizing that he had to face the inevitable. 208.71.235.4talk to me 16:24, April 8, 2015 (UTC)
I'm familiar with the mention. However, the IP user uses the word "appearance". Mentions are not appearances. See also Thread:141930. Shambala108 17:17, April 8, 2015 (UTC)

"General"[[edit source]]

Continuing what was said on the archives in 2011, even though he's promoted to general according to some valid sources, don't most post-retirement and posthumous stories address even his full name and title with "Brigadier", and ignore the "General" entirely? For instance, The Wedding of River Song:

Nurse: Doctor, I'm so sorry. We didn't know how to contact you. I'm afraid Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart passed away a few months ago.

And The Day of the Doctor:

Kate: Somewhere in your memory is a man called Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. I'm his daughter.

Buddhist[[edit source]]

The page has been added to the category of Buddhists, but with no mention to this on the page itself. Just wondering where this comes from? MadeIndescribable 14:18, March 27, 2016 (UTC)

Good catch.
Removing it for now. If someone wants to put the info in the article, the category can be re-added. Categories are not substitutes for writing articles. Shambala108 14:29, March 27, 2016 (UTC)

Who Worked With The First Doctor[[edit source]]

"Nicholas Courtney's long tenure on Doctor Who led to some interesting trivia. Along with Carole Ann Ford, Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton, he was one of only four actors to work with both William Hartnell and Richard Hurndall's interpretations of the First Doctor." Really? What about Roy Skelton (The Ark / The Tenth Planet / The Five Doctors)?165.225.76.55talk to me 11:43, October 30, 2018 (UTC)

And of course John Scott Martin was a dalek operator in both the Hartnell era and The Five Doctors.165.225.76.55talk to me 15:07, December 17, 2018 (UTC)

Who Worked With Who[[edit source]]

"Apart from Peter Purves, he was the only regular cast member on Doctor Who to have played two different roles in episodes featuring Hartnell." How about Hartnell himself?165.225.76.55talk to me 11:46, October 30, 2018 (UTC)

Now Hartnell himself has been added, is it time to consider if Sara Kingdom was a companion, allowing Jean Marsh onto this prestigious list?165.225.76.55talk to me 15:00, December 17, 2018 (UTC)

Alexander[[edit source]]

The section on his brother Alexander seems to have an error-at least, I assume it’s an error. Both Alexander and his son Henry are stated to have wives named Olivia, but the links lead to the same character article. That seems to imply that Henry married his mother...--Kilmarnock228 02:23, November 24, 2020 (UTC)

Medals and post-nominal titles[[edit source]]

Here it says that his only post nominal titles are VC, KCB and DC. He also wears other medals/awards which allow you to use certain post-nominal titles. The 2 missing post-nominals are CMG and DSO, The first one is the Order of St. Michael and St. George. He must be a Companion of this order because any higher and he would've been a Sir, which doesn't happen until later. The other one is the Distinguished Service Order. Here is an image of his medal ribbons, which clearly show the ribbons of the CMG and DSO. This means his post-nominal titles are: VC KCB CMG DSO DC. I'm confused about what DC is for, I can only think of DCM, because I've never heard of DC. I recommend to read this https://unituniforms.blogspot.com/2015/12/medals.html

Infobox - colour image?[[edit source]]

Just wondering if we should update the infobox image to one of Alistair depicted in colour? I do like the current image but he makes far more appearances in the colour era of the show, and I think therefore that would be more appropriate? I have attached some suggestions for if anyone agrees. — Fractal 13:17, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Yes, that seems sensible to me. All of these options seem somehow a little dark, though. --Scrooge MacDuck 13:21, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
(Just in regards to the images themselves, would it be possible to categorise them by which story they're from? It's best for all images to be properly categorised) Cookieboy 2005 16:04, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
The first three are from "Robot", and the latter two are from "The Claws of Axos" — Fractal 16:25, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
