Alright, is there a source somewhere for this… er, existing, per se? Because the article states it was released on the Internet rather than on the DVD, but it gives no link or video… and, I did some moderate digging and I'm sorry, I can find no traces of it online. The article even appears to be kind of inconsistent with itself, as despite this claim that it was released online rather than along the other Reconstructions, the "home release" section still repeats the information that "all Reconstructions are available on the DVD and Blu-Ray release of An Adventure in Space and Time"…

On top of that, the statement that the episode would be unique in the Reconstructions series in that the actors are playing the characters rather than the actors is… also somewhat puzzling to me, as what I could find of the other Reconstructions during said searching featured Bradley recreating scenes of the First Doctor without ever breaking character.

By the by, assuming it does somehow exist and that, as the article describes, it features Gatiss actually playing the Doctor, why is it non-valid? Is it a licensing issue? Is it because it's a parody, and the article failed to mention that?--Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 18:20, September 15, 2018 (UTC)

I've seen the Blu-ray. As I understand it, what is titled "Another Doctor" here is actually Regenerations, the full version of Regeneration. Reconstruction: First regeneration, a simple recreation of The Tenth Planet sequence, is on BBC YouTube. Regenerations, which is listed on both the DVD and the Blu-ray, adds to this by having 2/Shearsmith change into 3/Gatiss just as he changes from 1/Bradley. I am also confused by the statement, as to me it seems no different from the other reconstructions, the only difference being that obviously the second regeneration was never shot with Troughton and Pertwee as it had been in Tenth Planet. Also of note, as can be seen in the image attached to this article, the Doctor's clothes change again in the second regeneration, which would not mesh with our first glimpse of the Third Doctor wearing Troughton's clothes in Spearhead.

Basically, this is Gatiss playing the Doctor in a "reconstruction" of a scene which was not shot in real life and could not have occurred in-universe in the way it is depicted here. --MrThermomanPreacher ☎ 01:09, November 2, 2019 (UTC)

I think that problem with the costumes is likely more of an oversight/production error than anything we could take into account as evidence of a Rule 4 breach, on its own terms. The glimpse of Pertwee is ever so brief, after all. Certainly wouldn't have remembered what his clothes look like in that scene, offhand, if you hadn't pointed out to me that he's still wearing Troughton's costume.

(If anyone's worried about the clothes-change-through-regeneration in itself, note that it's already a thing in the DWU. Troughton woke up wearing his costume which only loosely resembles Hartnell's, with no time to have changed. The Scarlet Empress made it explicit that costume can be affected by regeneration, IIRC.)

That being said, what seems more obviously parodical to me is this “having 2/Shearsmith change into 3/Gatiss just as he changes from 1/Bradley” business. Do you mean to say that this second regeneration takes place immediately after the first, Curse of Fatal Death-style?

I should point out that the reconstructions were uploaded to YouTube on 22 November 2013, prior to the home video release on 3 December. As for the merger, I can't say as I'm not exactly sure if there's a precedent for this sort of thing and if so what is done in these instances. --MrThermomanPreacher ☎ 01:41, November 2, 2019 (UTC)
