Talk:April Fools' Day

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Categorization and name[[edit source]]

Hmmmm, tricky one this. This article really can't just sit in Category:Real world. That's a mega-cat that can't have any individual articles in it. We need to have some kind of perspective. Might I suggest this be re-purposed as a simple real world list? List of April Fools' jokes played by the production team or somesuch. It seems unlikely there's going to be a serious attempt at an actual article here — unless April Fools' (it's plural, incidentally) actually does have an in-universe existence. If it does, then this thing should be retitled to April Fools' Day and put in Category:Celebrations and holidays. CzechOut | 20:48, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

Solved, nearly three years later: there is discussion of April Fools' Day, along with a handful of pranks, in Time and Relative. I'll do the honours. —Josiah Rowe 07:25, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

Fan site joke[[edit source]]

I've removed the following:

  • 2010 - It was confirmed that Steven Moffat would return the Kandyman [1] in the series finale but this was an April Fool's joke.

This wasn't "confirmed" anywhere except on the fan site doctorwhotv.co.uk. It was that site's April Fool's joke. Is that really noteworthy? The Dreamwatch and DWM jokes seem a bit more noteworthy to me, in part because a sloppy researcher looking back at old magazine issues might mistake them for the real thing. That's not going to happen with the website's joke.

Maybe if that was a website I visited regularly I'd think of it as more noteworthy. What do other folks think? —Josiah Rowe 07:37, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

Remove it, unless it can be sited by a proper source. If we start to add all 'fan site' jokes, it would get out of hand because doubt the majority of fan sites do it themselves and we don't want to start adding them. MM/Want to talk? 13:17, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
