Talk:Atropa belladonna

Rename[[edit source]]

As stated in the {{rename}} tag, the plant was never identified as "Belladonna" in The Sensorites. In fact, it was only referred to as "atropa belladonna" and "Deadly Nightshade" (capitalised). Here are the relevant passages:

Is it? Yes. I thought so. Atropa belladonna. Deadly Nightshade.
[...]
Remember, we brought no food with us and the only water available is that poisoned water out there with Deadly Nightshade.

Now you might quibble over the spelling of Deadly Nightshade/deadly nightshade, but my CC capitalised it and, according to the plant's Wikipedia page, so does the real world.

You see, the shortened term "Belladonna", while not incorrect in the real world, was never used in The Sensorites. I therefore suggest a rename to Atropa Belladonna (as is named the WP page, and as it is called in TS), of course leaving Belladonna, Deadly Nightshade and deadly nightshade as redirects.
