Talk:Bacon sandwich
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Hello, I've noticed that there's pages for both 'Bacon sarnie' and 'Bacon sandwich' which might not both be necessary. This page has less information than the other and a more colloquial title. Should this page be deleted (and its information transferred to 'Bacon sandwich'), and if so is anybody able to do this? Thanks! DanPPower ☎ 23:24, July 8, 2022 (UTC)
- A couple of things: we use in-universe sources (i.e. stories) for our in-universe articles, so if we don't (yet) have an explanation that the two things are the same, for now we'll have two pages. And if it is decided to merge the two pages, only an admin can do that. So let the discussion begin. Shambala108 ☎ 22:45, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- That being said, there is the "hatbox" precedent for such common sense merging of articles, which has been applied in cases like hashish/marijuana/cannabis being merged into one. And furthermore, do the readers really benefit from two pages existing on bacon sandwiches because one source used a well-known synonym for sandwich? 12:29, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- We don't have a page currently dedicated to "sarnie" but if we look at other examples 'sarnie' it's enough to suggest a merger between the two.
- It Takes You Away Graham says "these days I always carry a cheese and pickle sarnie" and shows said sandwich.
- In The Haunting of Villa Diodati Graham also mentions people brining him a sarnie.
- Timeless it mentions 'stuffing your pretty cheeks with a sarnie'.
- Combat Rock it mentions 'old men morosely munching on their sarnies at a picnic'
- I think with these there's enough contextual links to say sarnie & sandwich are the same. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:14, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
