Talk:Blanche (Victory of the Daleks)
Name[[edit source]]
Stop these lies now! Her name is not supposed to be Blanche Breen, but Lilian Breen, and she was played by Susannah Fielding. Check Google images of the publicity photographs of the actresses playing Lilian (Susannah Fielding) and Blanche (Nina de Cosimo) as proof. It was a bit silly to call her one thing in the story and another in the closing credits.

In the episode, she is referred to as Miss. Breen (spelling checked on iPlayer). Should this be moved to Blanche Breen or does what appears in the credits take priority? --Bluesilver 14:22, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
- There's no justification for calling the article Blanche. That name is, as far as I can tell, never said on-screen in the final edit. This is an in-universe article, so in-universe full names, if provided by the script, take precedence. At the very least, it should be moved to Breen, because that's definitively established by the episode. Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong in going ahead and renaming the article to "Blanche Breen", even though Blanche is technically derived only from the end credits. I think we should in general give full names, even if we have to go to the credits to find them. Others may disagree, but, again, I don't think you can disagree with moving the article at least to Breen.
- But in the cast list on the story page, the way she's actually presented in the credits should take priority. There, she should definitely be listed as only Blanche. CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 03:33, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
To finish this fascinating discussion (some seven years later), this is what the state of affairs is.
- "Breen" is the last name of Lilian, not Blanche because Winston Churchill addresses thusly the character of Susannah Fielding at aprox. 2:35 of the episode.
- Neither "Lilian" nor "Blanche" is pronounced onscreen but the identities are easily restored from the credits and images of the two actors.
