Talk:Blood on Santa's Claw (audio story)

Not sure about the precedent of this one. In the past we have not considered the Part 1s of stories released for free earlier in the month as valid, but I don't think the situation has ever been applied to an anthology of multiple separate stories. It's worth noting that covering this and a later release would really mess with our coverage of the anthology as a whole, though.

Whatever the case, the article needs a major cleanup as any explicit mention of anthology later containing this currently standalone story is in violation of T:SPOIL. --Borisashton 22:37, December 7, 2019 (UTC)

I need some more information, so I'll try to be specific. In general, we do have pages for audio series, with spoiler tags attached. Is that the situation here?
If not, what it sounds like? is that only one part of the story has been released, with the rest coming later. We do allow that for comic stories, but like you say, we usually don't start coverage of audios until they're fully released.
The big question is how available is this part 1? Tardis:Official releases states, regarding audio stories: "the moment of public release is when a story is made available to download by the official Big Finish website. For those audio dramas not made downloadable, the moment of release is whatever date the company sets on its website for the CD release."
So hopefully this info can help you answer my questions. Shambala108 22:50, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
Most anthologies of this format are four standalone stories. This one was released for subscribers of the Big Finish newsletter. So, technically:
It is a "complete" story (of sorts)
Anyone who is subscribed to the newsletter got access to it, and it is downloadable on the website, for those who are subscribed OncomingStorm12th 22:57, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
Ouch that makes it more confusing for someone like me who doesn't do the audios. User:OncomingStorm12th, do you think this violates Tardis:Spoiler policy? Shambala108 23:03, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
Honestly, I don't think it does.
We have precedent for exclusive stories in comic-con exclusive comic stories (and this is only limited for a while anyway)
Aside from the fact we know it will get "re-released", this is supposed to be a stand-alone story (haven't listened this specific one yet), but even if it ends in a cliffhanger that leads into another story, this hardly stopped us from covering the first part of a two-parter in a TV story.
So, overall, I think it's fair game to cover this story and its contents, as well as mentioning it's part of an anthology (we don't wait until a season it's over to say that story X belongs to season Y anyway). OncomingStorm12th 23:22, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
Well then let's just leave it for now, and if someone still thinks it's a spoiler, maybe we can get User:Amorkuz involved, I think he does do the audios. Shambala108 23:39, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
Ok, I've went and expanded the current coverage of the story, (and removed the delete tag, though do add it back if it was the wrong move). OncomingStorm12th 00:13, December 8, 2019 (UTC)

All these points make sense and puts most of my concerns to bed. Even though they're slightly different, it makes me wonder why we don't cover the free part ones on their respective pages using {{current}} or even just mentioning it on the (releases) pages after the full release. That might be a more broader concern more worthy of a forum thread though. --Borisashton 04:11, December 8, 2019 (UTC)
