Talk:Dalek time machine
Name? Was this ever referred to 'on screen as a DARDIS, other wise 'Dalek time ship' should stand as its name. --Tangerineduel 15:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- the name appears in The Quantum Archangel as well. Stardizzy? 15:11, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

- Contibuing this convo three years later . . . Article asserts that the term DARDIS appears in the script. How do we know this? Has The Chase script ever been published? It 's not part of Doctor Who: The Scripts range, is it? CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 03:09, December 17, 2010 (UTC)
Moving[[edit source]]
Nah, sorry, I'm not seeing any reference to DARDIS anywhere "real". It's not in The Chase, DMP or their novelisations. It's not in The First Doctor Handbook, which is by far the most exhaustive of that entire range. To the extent it occurs anywhere, it's in The Quantum Archangel, but here's its one and only occurrence, in its entirety:
- ..."the DARDIS core, stolen from Skaro itself" ...
And I'm not snipping valuable words there. It's just a part of a list of things the Master possesses. I'm not proposing deleting DARDIS, because obviously Craig Hinton uses the term, but that's so vague, it can only go in a behind-the-scenes note. Thus, I'm moving to Dalek time machine, because that's actually used in the script of The Chase, and in the novelisation.

- Conversion complete. All instances of DARDIS, except on talk pages and fora, have been converted to Dalek time machine.

Taranium[[edit source]]
It says here that Taranium is used to power the time machines....I don't think this is right. The Taranium is used to power the Time Destructor and I can find no reference to it being used for the DARDIS. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheMasterRace (talk • contribs) .
DARDIS in the FASA games?[[edit source]]
- i'm pretty sure it was called a "dardis" in the old fasa doctor who rpg that i had when i was a kid. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.6.228.246 (talk).
- However the FASA games are invalid sources. Epsilon the Eternal ☎ 17:34, September 7, 2020 (UTC)

- Is it? I can't see the FASA game mentioned in any of the earlier discussion. As Epislon says, it's not a valid source, so we wouldn't merge the pages, necessarily — but if "DARDIS" is used to refer to Dalek time machines in a licensed DW source, albeit an invalid one like a RPG, then the BTS sections of the relevant pages need to be rewritten significantly. "Dalek time machine" currently treats the equation of Hinton's DARDIS with the Dalek time machine as simply a fandom notion, which would be a very different thing. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 21:35, September 7, 2020 (UTC)

Ah, misreading on my part. I read "and I can find no reference to it being used for the DARDIS" as "and I can find no reference to it (the time machine) being used [as] the DARDIS". Hence why I didn't separate things into two sections, just one, I felt the second comment was a response to the first, and I felt I was also saying "oh, yeah, they had previously found sources that use the term".
