While Dark Space 8 clearly has a lot of Star Trek elements, I think the crew is more directly based on the Moonbase crew in Space 1999. Commander Keale is Commander Keonig; Professor Fassbinder is Professor Bergman (both Rainer Fassbinder and Ingmar Bergman being influential European filmmakers) and Dr Eleanor Harcourt is Dr Helena Russell.
