Talk:Dora (Frontier in Space)

Is this rename an open and shut case?[[edit source]]
I mean, not to state the obvious, but nobody named Dora appears in Frontier in Space. I'm all for renaming this page to Dora, but "Dora (Frontier in Space)" doesn't exactly seem like an accurate name. At the same time, anyone looking for the President from Frontier in Space won't find it at "Dora (The Transcendence of Ephros)". CoT ? 23:44, May 11, 2017 (UTC)
- I missed this message, for which I apologise. But the policies are clear. Adding names from later stories is a well-established practice: Tom Osgood, for instance, never appeared in The Dæmons in your sense, Osgood did; "regeneration" was never uttered in The Tenth Planet or The Power of the Daleks; Madame Kovarian was named almost a season after she first appeared. And yet that's where the pages are. Since all valid sources from all the media (except for novelisations) have to be treated equally, any information introduced at any point should be taken into account. On the other side, the dab term has to be the first story of appearance. The obvious solution is to leave a redirect from the old name of the page, which I have done. Moreover, I left the text untouched on pages directly referring to the television story and novelisation. They operate on the redirect. However, in-universe pages have to be written from the omniscient perspective, using the name and link to Dora. Amorkuz ☎ 20:33, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
