Has the word "flatulence" ever been used in DW etc to describe farting? As the quote on the cleanup tag states at least "farting" has been used to describe the subject of the article. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:17, October 8, 2013 (UTC)
- The word's used in a few of the books I own, but none of them tell us precisely what it is. Here's the closest I can find, from GodEngine:
- Chris's nose filters had succeeded in keeping him awake, but the smell of the anaesthetic was rather too much for him, and he had to keep from retching — the room smelt like somebody had just had a very bad attack of flatulence.
- Then there's more references — in Sky Pirates, The Also People, The Tomorrow Windows and The Man in the Velvet Mask — but the word's only used once mainly out of context, and no explanation for the term is given. The word "flatulence" has definitely not been used in any of DW, SJA or TW. So, if my collection's any indication, it should be renamed to farting. Unless someone else has a story with an explanation for the word, of course.
