Talk:Gold casing

The casing of the Emperor of the Restoration is the only gold Dalek casing distinct enough to warrant its own page. The "Anatomy of the Emperor Dalek" section of the Eaglemoss Dalek Drone / Dalek Emperor figurine booklet extensively details info specific to the Restoration Emperor's casing, and, frankly, this page referring to any gold Dalek casings other than that of the Restoration Emperor is not only pointless, given the lack of unique info, but would also encourage the creation of pages such as Red casing, Purple casing, Blue casing, etc - pages on Dalek casings that are distinct only in their colour scheme. We'd be looking at the creation of a lot of pointless pages.

On a slightly separate note, I think the "Anatomy of the Emperor Dalek" info is in-universe, because, aside from possibly one questionable instance, none of the info refers directly to other stories by name, nor does it break the fourth wall. Though I need to give it a double-check to be sure. Thalek Prime Overseer 01:05, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

It's in-universe, yes. However, under current policy, it's invalid because it's not narrative. A page should probably be created about the feature, but it should be categorised in Category:Non-DWU features, and information from it could only be used in the Behind the scenes section of this page.
Also, it is an explicit point in The Restoration Empire that the Emperor of the Restoration's casing was patterned after the Dalek Prime's own "Golden Emperor" getup. Therefore, although "Gold casing" may not be the best term for it, I think a page about this 'model' of golden, bubble-headed Dalek Emperor casing would make some sense, rather than one uniquely focused on the Emperor of the Restoration's specific one. (We've got some significant "anatomical" data on the Prime's Golden Emperor casing in The Secret of the Emperor, by the way.) Scrooge MacDuck 03:20, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
That sounds fair. I wasn't aware that any other gold Daleks had an in-depth depiction of their casings. In terms of a new name then, what about Casings of the Dalek Emperor or Dalek Emperor casings? They're more specific than just Gold casing. Thalek Prime Overseer 18:59, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
Hmmm. But there is another 'trend' in Dalek Emperor casings — the big, towery, static ones as exhibited in The Evil of the Daleks and The Parting of the Ways. Those feel like a different thing entirely, yet they'd also fall under the umbrella of such titles.
I believe The Davros Mission refers to Davros's Remembrance of the Daleks Emperor casing (which is of the same basic type as these) as an Imperial Casing; we could use that, as it's an in-universe designation. Alternatively, the cast list of one of the issues of Defender of the Daleks referred to the Emperor of the Restoration's golden casing as his "battle armour"; that's not strictly speaking part of the story, but we could get away with using that with a {{conjecture}} tag.
