Talk:Harold Saxon

Merger[[edit source]]
I'm against Tybort's proposed merge – actually, proposed deletion – of this page. Rather than comparing it to John Smith, compare it with Time Lord Victorious : aliases for which we have separate pages. This page covers information in a way that couldn't neatly be duplicated on "Saxon" Master. – n8 (☎) 19:01, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Not to mention I know of a bunch of sources that adds more to the Harold Saxon alias that are on my to-do list of Wiki projects. 19:06, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- The very first sentence of the page is based on nonsense: "Harold Saxon, or Harry, was a fictional human politician." When he was very much a real person (albeit not human) from everywhere after his arrival on Earth. Also, is this about the alias or the fake persona before 18 months ago? Those are two distinct things. Certainly everything starting from the sentence "Harold Saxon made his first true appearance just after the downfall of British Prime Minister Harriet Jones, which was brought about the Tenth Doctor on 25 December 2006." belongs on Saxon Master and on other pages should link to Saxon Master. -- Tybort (talk page) 15:58, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with Tybort that, at the very least, most of the stuff on this page belongs on Saxon Master. Jack "BtR" Saxon ☎ 16:01, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, this page defo needs a cleanup. I intend to do it when I get around to those tie-in websites that have little bios on the Harold Saxon "character" the Master created, and I was gonna focus the page primarily on the fictional bits. 16:15, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that this page should be different from Saxon Master on the grounds that, yes, while different from a chameleon arch, this was basically a character that the Master played for a longer period of time. He basically put his Master-self away to dedicate himself to be full-time Harold Saxon until his time was right to reveal himself as his true Master-self. The Sound of Drums even reveals that the Master had created a lot of backstory for this man he pretended to be, which is different from just an alias or what the Spy Master did with O. - I agree with Danniesen that this page should stay. We have many pages for aliases; in relation to the Saxon Master, we also have a page for Razor, which some could say there is less of a need for than this one. There is a large amount of fictional background information - notably from The Sound of Drums and Speech Day - which I think is best suited to this page and would be somewhat lost/out of place on the Saxon Master page. 66 Seconds ☎ 11:03, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
