Netherlands?[[edit source]]
Although "Holland" is a region of the Netherlands, it (until comparatively recently) was the common colloquial English term for the country as a whole. Unless there is specific reason to think references refer to Holland itself, this article ought to be merged into the article for the (European) Netherlands itself.86.160.61.43talk to me 16:13, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
- The real world matters not as much, it is information that's provided in-universe that matters.
- So unless it's stated within a valid source that they're the same the pages will remain separate. See T:IU for more information.
- I have however added {{fact}} tags to the information on Netherlands page that states "The Netherlands (sometimes known as Holland) was a nation in Europe." so that editors are alerted to it needing a source. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:47, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
- I doubt anyone would ever say that they are the same. The truth is that the Netherlands, Holland and Low Countries all refer to approximately the same region but at different times. To give an example, The Roundheads identify Amsterdam as a city in Holland but never mention the Netherlands. The pages should remain separate. Amorkuz ☎ 16:32, June 18, 2016 (UTC)
Added sources to the first statement, which was validated as stated in Thread:195215. Shambala108 ☎ 03:29, July 18, 2019 (UTC)
