Talk:Ilya Svyatoslavovich

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Name[[edit source]]

"Ilya's full name is given, in Russian, on the prominent name tag on the man's uniform, with surname first and first name last." Name tags on Russian military uniform usually include surname and initials of first name and patronymic. But in this case I am absolutely sure that Ilya is a first name (since it is a common Russian name and definitely doesn't look like a surname) and Svyatoslavovich is a patronymic (It shows that Ilya is a son of Svyatoslav and Svyatoslav is also a Russian first name). Probably, the costume designer hasn’t just paid attention to this detail (or we can assume, that in the Doctor Who Universe Russian military uniform has different standards)) Moreover, according to Ilya's shoulder straps he is a Marshal of the Russian Federation, which is the highest military rank of Russia. Usually they use their parent's first name as their own last name. But since you can't use that as a parent's appearance, since... well... his parents don't appear or gets mentioned, there will not be created a page for that. --DCLM 20:34, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
Well, parent's first name is not taken as a surname. Russian full name includes a surname, a first name, and a patronymic (which is formed from a father's name). I wasn't requesting creation of a page about Ilya's parent, I just wanted to point out an inaccuracy in the article.Mpozd.spb 16:29, November 20, 2019 (UTC)
Please keep T:NO RW in mind when debating this issue thanks. Shambala108 16:51, November 20, 2019 (UTC)
