- I think it's quite clear that Marx is deserving of the Tag "Philosopher from the real world". Per the SEP,
- Trained as a philosopher, Marx turned away from philosophy in his mid-twenties, towards economics and politics. However, in addition to his overtly philosophical early work, his later writings have many points of contact with contemporary philosophical debates, especially in the philosophy of history and the social sciences, and in moral and political philosophy.
- Even if we cede that his later work isn't to be taken as philosophical (which I do not), his early work is sufficient to place him in this category. On The Jewish Question is a clear work of political philosophy. Contribution to a Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right, Introduction is as well. In Theses on Feuerbach 1 and 2, he's explicitly doing metaphysics and epistemology. While he has little time for the philosophers of his day (and to be quite frank, I have little time for Hegel or Feuerbach as well, though for different reasons than Marx), he is himself doing philosophy in parts of his work.
