Even Project Dalek's larger screencaps don't show off the new attachments well. Consequently, I don't know the source of their close-ups on them. As for this strange belief that the plunger and gun are just switched on some, the gunstick is small and hardly sticks out. Name

The Doctor Who Technical Manual does but I suppose that's not much. The Dalek Book, which looks like the original source for the Technical Manual's Dalek anatomy, refers to the control arm with sucker cup. An additional anatomy picture I've seen for the Imperial Daleks from the Doctor Who Yearbook 1993 refers to it as a telescopic manipulation arm with combined manipulator/neural jack (meaning the plunger). Similar but not the same.

Another problem with this article's name is that even if we find a good source, it will likely refer to a sucker or a claw-tipped arm, which can hold objects and operate machinery, manipulate them if you will. I'd kind of prefer the more generic "Dalek arm" or maybe "Telescopic arm" for this article. --Nyktimos 02:17, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Then there's the additional issue of why this isn't at Dalek. I mean with every other species the goal is to give a good accounting of their physical characteristics, right? But Dalek doesn't even mention either arm, even once. If you read the Dalek article, you'd never understand that Daleks have any offensive capability at all! This page looks long, because every different variation has its own section, but really it could be condensed to a paragraph and stuck in the Dalek article where it belongs. Then you could use the term "manipulator arm" — or as Wiipedia puts it "telescoping robot manipulator arm" — without too much issue. CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 12:43, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
