Talk:Maxwell's equations

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Conjecture tag[[edit source]]

Hey SOTO, is this page ok to have? Also, what do we have to do in order to remove the "Name speculation" tab? These are definitely Maxwell's equations, no doubt about it, but they never say it in the context of the episode, I only spotted it while re-watching Saturday night. Also, why was the picture removed? I thought it helps to give context. Thanks, sorry for my inexperience! DoctorQuoi 14:18, August 24, 2020 (UTC)DoctorQuoi

It'll never be removed until the equations are shown again in universe and called "Maxwell's Equations". Otherwise it's a violation of T:NO RW. Technically I think even saying they govern classical electromagnetism in the body rather than the behind the scenes is a violation.
Also, if the picture doesn't have a license you gave it, it's a violation of wiki policy.Najawin 16:53, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks Najawin. Ok then. Regarding the picture, it was a screen capture from my DW series 2 BluRay. Doesn't that fall under the BBC screenshot license, ie the first option in the drop-down menu when uploading pictures to the TARDIS wiki? Otherwise, what license do I need to use when/if I re-upload the picture? Thanks, DoctorQuoi 16:59, August 24, 2020 (UTC)DoctorQuoi
Najawin, you would seem to be wrong. Look at pages like Grace van Cutsem, for example. I'll go ahead and categorise the picture. -- Saxon (✉️) 17:02, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
I don't see the issue, the picture in question doesn't directly categorize the people in it, so she's not called "Grace van Cutsem". Najawin 17:07, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
But the page is called that. Thus, this page can be called Maxwell's equations and given a conjecture tag. -- Saxon (✉️) 17:09, August 24, 2020 (UTC)

Oh. I never disputed that. My concern was whether "were a series of equations used in classical electrodynamics." should be in the top section or BTS. So basically whether the top part should read as it currently does or "Maxwell's Equations were a set of equations that were written on a table in one of the habitation hubs of Sanctuary Base 6." Thank you for the help/corrections everyone! DoctorQuoi 17:24, August 24, 2020 (UTC)DoctorQuoi
Jack, did you actually add the license? Najawin 17:34, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
I added categories and had to step away for a little while, during which Shambala deleted the image. I think it would be far more helpful to add the licence when it's been uploaded by a newer user and it's so readily obvious and is categorised as a screenshot, but here we are. -- Saxon (✉️) 17:46, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
Ay carumba! Jack "BtR" Saxon Can I send the image to one of you to upload? Or do I have to go back and take a DIFFERENT screenshot? It's only featured in like two scenes at almost the exact same angle so it'll come out looking the same regardless... this is so annoying... DoctorQuoi 17:53, August 24, 2020 (UTC)DoctorQuoi

Reupload it. I'll put the license on it. Najawin 17:54, August 24, 2020 (UTC)

Najawin Ok. How should I upload it? Should I upload the image to my personal profile or should I just do the "Edit->Insert Picture->Upload and select License", the way I usually do it? DoctorQuoi 17:57, August 24, 2020 (UTC)DoctorQuoi
Do everything the normal way. I'll take it from there. Najawin 17:58, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
Tardis Blue check mark.png Done! Teamwork makes the dream work. -- Saxon (✉️) 18:01, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, Jack got it. The current guide on adding licenses is woefully out of date. Confused me when I first was adding images. Najawin 18:02, August 24, 2020 (UTC)
