Pronouns[[edit source]]

Hiya, Niki here! I use he/him and she/her pronoun sets at the moment. If that changes, I'll edit my page myself, so please leave my pronouns as they are on the wiki. Thank you! Nikisketches 10:15, August 11, 2019 (UTC)

No. You'll need to follow Wikia rules, not the other way around. If some info on the Wiki is wrong, you are welcome to correct it, but the Wikia does not bend. Thanks. --DCLM 11:38, August 11, 2019 (UTC)
We welcome you to the Wikia, BTW. :) --DCLM 11:45, August 11, 2019 (UTC)
"The Wikia does not bend." Literally wut? Which part of this request is unreasonable in your eyes Danniesen? – N8 11:53, August 11, 2019 (UTC)
You'll need the full context to understand what I'm talking about. --DCLM 12:01, August 11, 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, my bad. I'd seen "she" used further down and changed the "he" accordingly. Thanks for the clarity. --Revan\Talk 12:10, August 11, 2019 (UTC)

Let that be a lesson for all: if you have a question about an edit, especially one done by an admin, it always helps to ask first on their talk page. Sometimes there's an easy answer. Shambala108 12:14, August 11, 2019 (UTC)
Let me just add that I simply changed their edit because they wrote in the edit summary that they were experimenting, and I took it as they experimented on the Wikia and this should be left alone, which is not how the Wikia works. Apologies for any confusion. --DCLM 12:16, August 11, 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing that up. Glad to see there's no need for an edit war. "The Wikia does not bend" is obviously totally not what we should be going for, since the Wikia SHOULD bend and be open to change when necessary. Though — I'm not sure if "they" is me in that sentence (I don't use a they/them set), but if that's the case, I didn't write in any edit summary that I was experimenting with anything. Which specific edit summary did you mean, Danniesen? Nikisketches 07:23, August 12, 2019 (UTC)
You said "Please don´t change my pronouns without my consent" and I thought by that that you meant that you were experimenting with edits on the Wiki, and that's why I said the Wikia didn't bend the rules. I had no idea that you meant it was a personal choice on your person. I simply thought that you were another random user wanting to enforce your personal edit. Sorry for the confusion. --DCLM 10:17, August 12, 2019 (UTC)

A hidden note has been added to the article (before I even got there), making explicit that the pronouns used are correct. Just to clarify, and T:ACTOR backs me up on this, we are always to use the current name and pronouns for people, as designated by them. (I use they/them to make a general statement here.) Please do not assume you know somebody's pronouns better than they do. I understand that the original edit by Revan was simply in error, but I hope this does not become an issue again. Thank you.

I would also like to add that the spirit of wikis is collaboration and flexibility. If you think an editor is doing something wrong, please come to an admin instead of engaging in an edit war. Do not attempt to lay down the law yourself, particularly if you cannot point to a policy page. Admin are better acquainted with the rules, and only we can represent the wiki in that way.

I added that hidden note. --DCLM 20:06, August 12, 2019 (UTC)
Also, it seems a little like my messages aren't read. I was very clear when I said what I thought was being done and I apologized for the confusion when I realized the intention was something else. --DCLM 20:06, August 12, 2019 (UTC)
Thank you
