When does it say that Rex was born and raised in Los Angeles? When he speaks to Esther, he says that he's from New York City. He does have his father living in LA, but there is nothing which says that he was born there, and nothing which says that he was lying about being from New York. Furthermore, although this can't be treated as evidence, Mekhi Phifer is from New York, so it would make sense given the natural accent of the actor. 66 Seconds ☎ 23:42, January 9, 2017 (UTC)
