Talk:Riften 5

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Is the spelling for this directly from the comic, i.e. is the spelling correct? Titan used planets from "classic" Doctor Who before, so does anyone else think this is meant to be Riften 5? Steed 19:39, August 21, 2015 (UTC)

This is the exact spelling (and it appears a total of two times on separate pages), but I'd suspect that you're probably correct that they meant Riften 5. I experienced a similar issue last year with a reference to Bouken that was misspelled as Boukan in Lights Out and yet it referenced the planet's artificial suns even though it got a continuity detail incorrect about one of the suns. I never got an answer on how a situation like that should be treated: count it as a new location or make note of the different spellings/details on the existing page? I think the pages should be merged, and the lead should just say "Riften (also spelled Riftan) 5 was...". The novelisation of Attack of the Cybermen and Mission Impractical style it as "Riften Five", and Christmas on a Rational Planet styles it as "Riften-5", so both spellings should be reflected in the article. Given the variations you pointed out, that convinces me further that they did mean it as the same location. I'm on board with merging the two pages. Mewiet 02:42, August 22, 2015 (UTC)

I put a merge notice, or whatever it's called, on the page to get other people's attention. If you think the planets are intended to be the same, somebody who can merge pages can do so. Steed 20:48, November 5, 2015 (UTC)
