Talk:Sally Sparrow

I was watching TV the other day and I got to thinking. The name Sally Sparrow is extremely similar to Gary Sparrow. Gary Sparrow was the lead character in "Goodnight Sweetheart", a British Timetravel SitCom which involved Gary using a "time portal" to travel back in time to the second world war. The series even ends with Gary becoming trapped back in the 1940s after the "time portal" closes (which is the plot of the Sally Sparrow stories). And then in the same episode, while he is still in the past, he leaves a message to his wife in the future by writing a message to her under the wallpaper of the apartment they would by in the 1990s (with is another plot point in all the Sally Sparrow stories). It seems too similar to be coincidence to me, a reference worthy the triva section maybe? Looq 21:59, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Nope. It's just a coincidence. If we went around making such notes for every character who had the same name as a character in another work of fiction, it's all we'd do. My feeling is that unless there's a confirmed connection — like Moffat actually saying, "This is an homage to Good Night Sweetheart," it's just a coincidence. I think it's more relevant, perhaps, to note that it's another character named after an thing in nature. CzechOut | 01:23, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
If that's the policy that fine by me, but there are a lot of unconfirmed trivia points such as these (or at least points which lack citation). --Looq 16:31, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
