Recently, Hanging Gardens of Slarvia and Slarvian vines made an appearance in the comic story Hacked. No obvious connection to these Slarvians exist in that comic strip. Were Hanging Gardens or vines of maroon colour ever mentioned in stories about these Slarvians? Amorkuz ☎ 18:50, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

The obvious connection is through Cavan Scott, the writer of Hacked. He has a history of mentioning Slarvians and Slarvia in his Dr Who work. The Slarvians were first mentioned in Project Valhalla (which was written by Scott) many months before they actually appeared in Childhood Living (which was not written by Scott). Scott has also mentioned the Slarvians in Twilight's End and Project Wildthyme. It's very possible that there are more mentions, but that's all I'm aware of. CoT ☎ 21:28, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

Aha, so it's not completely random after all. I was going to discuss it with you anyway, since we seem to be virtually the only ones (so far) editing Hacked. Essentially, I was not sure whether the same name was an accident or really meant to represent the same species. When you removed the Slarvian category from the gardens, I was afraid I speculated too much.

But what you say provides a nice link. I snooped around a little bit. Apparently, there is a whole story in DWU, Benny and Louise, which happens on Slarvia (there seems to be a typo on the page where the planet is named). The info is from here. Unfortunately, the Wiki page of the story is very basic. Still even the synapsis in the external link corroborates that Slarvia is the name of the planet. It seems hard to find DWU info on Slarvians since they originated from Tomorrow People, apparently, and most links are from TP, not DWU.

Well, I do not plan to become a Slarvian editor. Let other Scottmen and Cavanophils sort them out. I only wanted to understand whether the Hanging Gardens and the vines are related to Slarvians from Childhood Living.

If we both agree that they are, let's simply leave the Slarvian category on both pages. Actually, what you wrote above seems like a nice BHS for these two pages. But it's surely up to you: your knowledge, your rules.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'll use it to at least fix the name there so that others can find it in the future. Unfortunately, Thunderush, who edited that page, doesn't have the book either. Neither Google Books nor Amazon have any preview for the short story collection. And I agree that relying on secondary sources like this website is too dangerous. Just to be clear, I do have the book. I just haven't gotten around to working on it.

And I will just post here for anyone reading this thread, that it is highly recommended when creating pages or adding content that you have the original source material handy.
