Talk:Sonic sunglasses
Infobox picture[[edit source]]
I'm not entirely sure, but I think the infobox picture on this article is snapped from the 3rd episode of Series 9, which is not broadcast yet. Please do tell me if I'm wrong. --DCLM ☎ 22:04, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
- although it is most likely from a future episode, there are no noticeable spoilers displayed so I would say it was fine and doesn't go against the Wiki's spoiler policy? -- Snivystorm ☎ 22:45, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
- Any picture from an unbroadcast episode is against the policies, even if it doesn't reveal anything. And it does in fact show the sunglasses on the picture, that's a spoiler as it's from an unbroadcast episode. We do not show spoilers except from two areas (Season/Series pages and The Howling), and spoilers anywhere else will be removed. I just don't recall if it's from the "next time" trailer or if it's from the already broadcast episodes. If someone can clear this out, please do tell. --DCLM ☎ 22:59, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
- Per Tardis:Spoiler policy, we don't allow anything from unreleased episodes. DCLM is absolutely correct on that. It doesn't matter how little information it conveys.
- I too would like to know if image from the third episode or not, and if no one can verify for certain in a couple of days, the image will be deleted just to be on the safe side. Shambala108 ☎ 01:22, September 29, 2015 (UTC)
- If it's from the "Next time" sneak peek, doesn't that technically mean it's been broadcast? If not though, then I agree there's no harm in waiting and being on the safe side. Snivystorm ☎ 16:55, September 29, 2015 (UTC)
- Nope. The "Next Time" sneak peek is not to be used. And that does violate the policies, as it's from an unbroadcast episode. We just need figure out whether it's actually taken from there. --DCLM ☎ 17:48, September 29, 2015 (UTC)
- Regardless, it's fine now since the episode has been released so the image can now stay unchanged. Snivystorm ☎ 16:17, October 4, 2015 (UTC)

Rename?[[edit source]]
It would appear that they're called Sonic Shades: http://www.bbcshop.com/page/whodiarys9280915 Digifiend Talk PR/SS KR MH Toku JD Garo TH CG UM Logos CLG DW 00:23, 30/9/2015
- I'm not sure, it seems like the person who wrote the article just coined the term. It might not be official but it is an alternative to the current title. Maybe we should vote to decide which one to use? Snivystorm ☎ 14:43, September 30, 2015 (UTC)
We won't be changing the name just yet. The sunglasses have only appeared in two episodes, and it's definitely possible that we'll get some kind of in-universe name before we have to rely on an out-of-universe name from the production crew. In any case, if we were to use the name suggested in the rename tag, we would go for "sonic shades", uncapitalized.
This might be a good time to remind all users that only admins are permitted to move/rename pages. The reasons and instructions are located at Thread:128198. Shambala108 ☎ 01:35, October 2, 2015 (UTC)
- As an update, Before the Flood (and I think Under the Lake) use the term sonic glasses. -- Tybort (talk page) 13:12, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, in Before the Flood the Twelfth Doctor is calling his sunglasses "sonic glasses" but should we name it like that? The thing is, that every one in DWE and on the BBC websites its called "Sonic Shades". The Doctor even often calls his sonic screwdriver just his sonic. He could just nicknamed it sonic glasses. - Well, "sonic screwdriver" is said in those exact words on screen (and in the narrative of other media) multiple times, while neither "sonic shades" nor "sonic sunglasses" are said in series 9 so far. As it stands, I don't know whether to retitle to something out-of-universe (but commonly used by the production team), just that "sonic glasses" is the only in-universe term used so far. -- Tybort (talk page) 15:44, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
- Let's just leave the article in its name "Sonic sunglasses" until the series has stopped aired or its 100% clear that the name is sonic glasses or something else. Deal? -- Mentuhotep I ☎ 15:54, October 13, 2015 (UTC)

If I could just have my little input, then I'll shut up- if some sources state "sunglasses" and another states "glasses" and another states "shades"... can't we just accept that they will have different names and keep the current name? If we'd have named this page Sonic Shades, there'd no doubt be a similar discussion about changing the name to another of the aforementioned names because another source called them by that name. It's just a third-party view on the issue. I think the name pretty much sums them up and getting the admins to rename the page on the very little evidence that the Doctor has a very specific name for them just wastes their time. I'll be quiet now. TheFartyDoctor Talk 17:00, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
