Battle of the Somme[[edit source]]
Does the story make a direct connection from this to the Battle of the Somme?

- It says "St. Michel War Cemetery, the Somme" in the story. That's the only connection mentioned as far as I know. 42Z ☎ 08:18, December 5, 2016 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know about a direct connection. But most part of the story happens in the Somme in July 1916, which are the dates of the Battle of the Somme in the RW. And one of the characters uses the term "Big Push", which was used to describe this particular battle (see, for instance, [1]). St Michel is one of the towns they encounter in July 1916 and that is where the cemetery is. Amorkuz ☎ 20:57, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
- And there is a New York Times article in the story, dated August 20, 1916 that mentions "Battle for the Somme". While not the exact spelling, it's hard to think what else they could've meant. Amorkuz ☎ 21:02, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
