Talk:Steven Spielberg

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Deletion[[edit source]]

Nah, you can't delete this, much as it's tempting. It needs to be wholly re-written though. He is a major figure in the development of the TV movie. The movie wouldn't have been done at Universal except for the involvement of Spielberg and Amblin'. The fact that he pulled out of the project is actually important to its final form.

This just needs to be rewritten, paying much closer attention to the details of The Nth Doctor, and to DOC: The Seven Year Hitch, and to the info text on the special edition DVD.

Moreover, he's an important figure to BBC Wales DW because Moffat had to "break up with" Spielberg to take the job at BBC Wales.

He's one of the few figures that you can fairly easily prove had an enomous impact on Doctor Who without having his name on any credit. Let's not forget that he is the direct cause of John Leekey's script not being made, since Spielberg directly intervened and asked Segal to fire Leekey. Spielberg was also the one who actually held the rights, so it was Spielberg who had to agree to let Segal take Doctor Who with him when Segal left Amblin'. Point is, the 1996 movie would not have been made without Spielberg, so he does deserve an article here. Just a much better-written one.

I thought I'd add the prop delete and test the waters at least.
I've changed it to cleanup, noting the points you've stated. --Tangerineduel / talk 15:38, January 25, 2012 (UTC)
