The Master?

I haven't read it, but does The Master actually appear in this short story or is he only mentioned? Because he's not listed under the Characters tab, but he's referenced as The Doctor remembering him under the Individuals tab, and this is categorized as a Master short story. I have not read this book but, from the overview, doesn't it contradict The Dark Path?
