Defining the image[[edit source]]
I've been told to ask here so that's what I'm doing. What do we define as a better image for the episode profile images? Thanks in advance! Snivystorm ☎ 17:16, October 4, 2015 (UTC)
- Story page infobox images should be the best representative of the story itself. For that reason, close-cropped character images aren't necessarily the best. It should be something that conveys what the story is about (and yes, I know how vague that sounds). If you look at the images of random story pages, you might get a feel for what we want.
- For this particular story, I haven't seen it, so I can't suggest an image. However, we don't use title screens for the infobox image. Shambala108 ☎ 17:59, October 4, 2015 (UTC)
- I see. Thank you for the response. Should there not be a discussion then on the best image, similar to other wikis, rather than just putting a character image on and staying with it, like on the previous two episodes. I've been confused since the one I added on the Witch's Familiar page was removed despite showing the daleks, the city and the sewer daleks over just Davros face. - In general, we try to encourage discussion when a popular page is concerned (and that includes story pages, Doctor pages and companion pages). However, when we have a new story, practically everyone wants to upload the image for the infobox, and there is a lot of reverting and changing. It's sometimes easier to wait until the furor over a particular story has waned, then put the best image up.
- My biggest difficulty in enforcing policy over these recent story pages is that I haven't seen the episodes yet, so I can't judge the images' quality. My suggestion would be to find what you think is the best image for each of the stories you're interested in, and submit them on each story's talk page. Then the community can discuss and come to a conclusion, and any potential change would then have to come to the community for discussion. Shambala108 ☎ 18:26, October 4, 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm that does sound like a good idea to use the talk pages but the image I used appears to have been deleted and I'm not the best at uploading images anyway. Is that why the images are currently "spoiler free", since not everyone has seen the episodes, yourself included? Snivystorm ☎ 18:32, October 4, 2015 (UTC)
- Per Tardis:Spoiler policy, once a story has been released it is fair game, no matter who has/hasn't seen it. I've been deleting a lot of images for the last three weeks, so I'd have to look up why yours were, but you can read our image policies at Thread:148148 so you'll know what we do and don't accept for images. - Then why has no one uploaded an image better suited to the policy rather ones resembling character profiles? Also, I've checked out other story images a lot, particularly the Christmas specials seem to reflect the title of the episode. Is that something which should be prioritised, the title as a guideline? Sign language[[edit source]]
A number of websites have had people familiar with ASL point out that the Doctor signs "you're beautiful" to Cass and comes very close to signing "I love you" in front of Clara in the TARDIS as Capaldi holds his hand in a conspicuously unusual way in that scene. There's wiggle room on that, but the sign to Cass has been confirmed apparently, which probably explains her WTF reaction. 68.146.233.86talk to me 22:15, April 6, 2016 (UTC)
