Tardis:User rename policy
Username policy → Signature policy → On using multiple accounts → Why create an account? → User rename policy |
Your username is how you are identified on a wiki. As a Tardis Wiki user, you have the right to request a new username. Username changes will only be granted to each user once every 365 days (1 year).
Requests are fulfilled manually, and have wide reaching effects on the wiki, as it alters how you are perceived by all on the wiki. Therefore you must have more than 2,500 edits to qualify for a user name request. If you have made a mistake in the sign up process with your username, simply create a new username and put a notice on your first username page pointing to your new username (this is to uphold T:SOCK).
Tardis Wiki bureaucrats reserve the right to adjust the minimum number of edits if a user makes a name change request. If the user has a small number of high quality edits this will count similarly to a high number of edits.
Note: Your past edit history may come under scrutiny prior to the name change, especially if you have less than 2,500 edits when making a user name change request.
Requirements[[edit source]]
Your new user name must not be able to be reasonably confused with an existing user name, nor existing pages, within reason.
If there is a user whose user name is 'Steel_Ocean', you cannot request a user name change to 'SteelOcean_' for example.
You user name must be consistent with our Tardis:Username policy. Additionally it cannot include anything within our Tardis:No personal attacks.
Your edit count must be more than 2,500 edits. You can check your edit count at Special:EditCount.
After user rename[[edit source]]
Once your account has been renamed, you are required to leave your old username somewhere visible on your user page, for at least 180 days (6 months), to help users identify your past edits with your new username.
Request[[edit source]]
Place your user name change request on Tardis:User rename policy/Change request.
Leave a talk message on the talk page of an administrator with bureaucrat rights, and it will be reviewed shortly.
Reason[[edit source]]
Please include a reason. Do not include any personal details.
(Please also note here if you also edit on one of our satellite wikis [TBA], since we currently use single sign in across the Tardis network.)
Limitations[[edit source]]
This policy is for self-requests only; you cannot request a user name change for another user. Keep in mind Tardis:No personal attacks.
