Vortis was a planet in the Isop Galaxy which the Menoptera, Optera and Zarbi called home. The Doctor visited it on several occasions, beginning with his first incarnation.
Originally covered in flower forests, the malevolent Animus reduced the world to a barren and nearly lifeless hulk. The creature also had a deleterious effect on the psyches of the world's dominant species. Where once they had lived together in relative harmony, the species of Vortis became much more antagonistic after the arrival of the Animus. Read more...
