{{Fair use music}} is a copyright licence, or tag, that's added on to the bottom of some musical files that are uploaded to this wiki. Although you can add it with the drop down menu of licensed seen at Special:Upload, it's better if you enter it manually, since it is required that you give a link back to the site from which you downloaded any musical file uploaded to this wiki.
Usage is straightforward. Just type {{fair use music|url from which the music came}}.
This musical clip of a copyrighted work is believed to fall within fair use or fair dealing guidelines, because:
- it is only a short sample of less than 30 seconds
- it has a low bitrate
- it is being used simply to identify a work
We found it at the following website, where it was freely downloadable through the use of a normal web browser. It was not torrented.
This sample is being used to illustrate an article about the piece of music at the Tardis Data Core, a fan-run wiki, hosted on the servers of Wikia, Inc.. Other use downstream is unlikely to be fair use, and therefore may be illegal.
To be absolutely clear, this file absolutely may not be placed on:
- character pages
- story pages
- user pages
- templates
- anywhere other than the single article about this specific piece of music.
