Template talk:Mainpage Box Friends
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Potential Update[[edit source]]
This page mentions the 2018 series of Doctor Who. However, the 2020 series as already ended. Therefore, I propose this template is updated to reflect that. If this was to happen, the wording would need to change as it is not 2020, Equally, however, it is not 2018. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) ☎ 20:03, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- After the migration to the UCP, @CzechOut said that the Wiki would have a facelift in time for Revolution of the Daleks; however, not unlike his promise to bring back the Forums, he has not fulfilled his promises. 20:20, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- Why would this have to be part of the facelift? Surely any admin could come along and make this small change? This is probably going to be the first thing a lot of new visitors see when they first come to the wiki so, at least in my opinion, its important for it to be correct and up to date. - I guess because @CzechOut is the most competent at coding? I dunno.
- If I am not mistaken, @Spongebob456 was going to attempt to bring back the Forums themselves until @CzechOut said he was currently working on it. There are lots of changes I'd like to see the main page have, such as a more accurate description about what this Wiki covers, as it's "blurb", if you will, only lists off televised material. 20:30, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- But, as far as I can see, this wouldn't require any coding knowledge. It is literally just replacing a few lines of text and a link. That's it.I really can't see why any other admin can't make the changes. As for making some other changes, I completely agree. The main page is seriously lacking in many ways. - As I understand it, the problem is that the home-page was somehow designed by BBCAmerica themselves as part of that semi-partnership the Wiki had with them a few years ago. I don't know if it was allowed in the terms of the agreement to simply modify that theme (as opposed to replacing it with something else altogether), or for anyone else than Czech to modify it. - Oh ok. I was not aware of this partnership, that's quite interesting. I guess I'll eagerly await Czech's update, as and when it comes. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) ☎ 21:46, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- I made a quick draft in my sandbox of what the template could be changed to look like. 02:45, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- That seems good, although it couldn't be implemented until that series starts as, firstly, it's not 2022 and, secondly, I think the individual on the right would be a spoiler. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) ☎ 08:09, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
