Template talk:Pre-broadcast spoiler

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

I don't get it. Shouldn't you admins use a silence in the library or forest of the dead image? I mean, at least every 5 minutes someone said "Spoilers." --Sir Phil Mirrory, Toa of Mirrors, Founder of the Munchkin Wiki 00:58, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Admins, I'm sorry if it was a mistake, but I edited the template because it was more suited to the theme of "Spoilers." Please change it if you feel it is not. But please don't penalize me for it, I'm only trying to do what's best for the Wiki. Sir Phil Mirrory, Toa of Mirrors, Founder of the Munchkin Wiki 01:53, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

The reason why it's been left as the Tom Baker image as it's a visually arresting image. The River Song images that have been put in place at various times more or less requires you to have seen Silence in the Library to get who she is. The spoiler tag is used across Doctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood and the K-9 TV series. Hence the image of Tom Baker is a far more visual image than River Song who personifies a concept (of the spoiler). --Tangerineduel 13:55, November 14, 2009 (UTC)

Just my 2 cents, I actually like the River Song version better. And frankly in a show that generates the equivalent of 50 million viewers each week in the UK (if you converted the numbers to what a similar show would need to get on an American network to reach the same percentages), the number of people reading and using the Tardis Wikia who don't know who she is will be in the minority. It's like having a Trek wiki template that has an image of the Q removed. I'm not losing sleep over it, but I personally think the River Song version is more relevant. I do think the editor who replaced the Tom Baker template a few days ago was in the wrong for not seeking consensus, though. 23skidoo 14:08, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
