Template talk:You may

Tweaks are needed[[edit source]]

I really feel that this is a flawed template in desperate need of tweaking. Sure, it's possible to work around the template's limitations, but when results like these are being produced, the template ought to be updated:

Just to have the option to manually set the width would be a huge improvement.TheGreatGabester 16:54, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Have also occasionally seen examples of the template awkwardly overlapping with "Unproduced", though I'm unable to locate it right now. TheGreatGabester 16:34, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for collecting these instances, Gabe. At this point it's more than clear that the design of {{you may}} is causing severe formatting issues across the wiki (whoisdoctorwho.co.uk chief among them). This problem could be very simply resolved by following our evil twin: as one can see at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who, Wikipedia uses hatnote formatting for its "you may" and {{dab page}} templates, and the result can handle more links (ours is currently capped at 2) while causing no issues. While Epsilon has proposed a thread about this at Tardis:Temporary forums, applying this fix to every instance of {{you may}} across the wiki would be as easy as editing this template page. This is a common-sense change and should be implemented without us having to wait for a forum slot to open up. – n8 () 16:55, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
