Temporal flux

Temporal flux refered to alterations to history.
The Fourth Doctor's mission to Skaro caused temporal flux, with the Parachronistic Chamber on Gallifrey monitored and contained. (PROSE: A Device of Death)
Temporal flux caused irreversible alterations to history when the effects of the Last Great Time War entered real-time. The Sontarans' battle computers indicated that the planet Drakkis has been at peace for its entire existence before its sector of space was contaminated by temporal flux, and other planets had suffered the same. (AUDIO: The Sontaran Ordeal)
The Tenth Doctor tried explaining the mechanics of infinite temporal flux to Martha Jones. (TV: The Shakespeare Code)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Explaining how Henry van Statten was unfamiliar with the Dalek he named Metaltron, The Time Traveller's Almanac suggested that the Van Statten Incident was subject to "time in flux", taking place in a timeline where the Cult of Skaro were still inside the Sphere within the Void, yet to emerge in Torchwood London and precipitate the Battle of Canary Wharf in 2007 and so did not go on to influence the construction of the Empire State Building, nor was the Earth transported to the Medusa Cascade since the personal timelines of both the Doctor and the Dalek race had not progressed to the point where those events occurred.
- Alternatively, the events of Dalek occur in 2012, thereby occurring after Series 5. By Series 5, memories such alien incursions were lost amongst humanity due to the time field.
