Thatcher was an assistant to King Richard's Chamberlain during the Crusades. In 1190, he stole clothing from the palace and sold it to Ben Daheer. Daheer later implicated Thatcher after confronting the First Doctor about the clothes, forcing Thatcher to run. (TV: The Crusade)
