Baseball bat

A baseball bat was a club primarily used in the game of baseball. It was, however, much like a cricket bat, often also used for offence and/or defence outside of the baseball field. Ellie Johnson and Evan Sherman, for example, used baseball bats as weapons. (TV: Countrycide) Mickey Smith kept one in his flat, and attempted to use it to hold off Sip Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen. (TV: World War Three)

Ace often carried a baseball bat in her rucksack and used it as a weapon. In 1963 Shoreditch, the Seventh Doctor used the Hand of Omega to enhance the bat's offensive capabilities and render it effective against Daleks. It was later destroyed when the Doctor used it to cripple the Imperial Daleks' Transmat device, an act that put too much stress on the already weakened bat. (TV: Remembrance of the Daleks) Hex found Ace's baseball bat from her time at school, which led Hex and Ace to realise they were still in the Celestial Toymaker's world. (AUDIO: The Magic Mousetrap) Izzy Sinclair used Ace's baseball bat to smash the Threshold's control centre. (COMIC: Wormwood) Ace kept her bat after she left the Seventh Doctor (PROSE: At Childhood's End, TV: The Power of the Doctor) because, as a parting gift, the Doctor fixed the bat when he and Ace finally parted ways. She used it to fight Daleks during the Master's Dalek Plan. (TV: The Power of the Doctor)

During the St Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929 Chicago, Al Capone beat his own bodyguards to death with a baseball bat under the influence of Agonal. (PROSE: Blood Harvest) Reggie Mead blew off steam by smashing his office up with such a bat. (AUDIO: Project: Twilight) During one of the anti-book riots of the late 1980s, Bobby Prescott used one to defend his municipal library against teenagers, only stopping because the bat had been reduced to a useless wooden stump. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Warhead)
