The Dark Side of Skaro was, along with Dalek Genius, a best-selling book by Professor L.R.S. Baynes on Davros and the creation of the Daleks. The Doctor started reading it before his sixth incarnation, although "the idea of reading two rather turgid volumes written by an apologist about the Daleks" appalled him. (AUDIO: Davros)

The Dark Side of Skaro was the name of a feature from Terry Nation's Dalek Annual 1977 that described geographical features found on the dark side of the planet Skaro. Similarly, Dalek Genius was a feature from the 1976 Dalek annual.
