The Doctor's townhouse (The-Nine Day Queen)

The Doctor owned a townhouse in Islington.

In 1553, after the First Doctor was dismissed from his role as the tutor of Lady Jane Grey, he was given a townhouse in Islington as compensation. It had previously been owned by the Duke of Northumberland. It was clean and dry and had a few chairs and stools, along with a an imported rug on the floor. During his stay there, the Doctor slept on a chair by the fire downstairs, while Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton shared a room. When they eventually left the house after a short stay, the travellers gathered all their belongings from the house. As they left, Barbara mentioned her disbelief that the Doctor would ever have a use for a 'fixed abode', wondering what he'd do with it, to which he replied that this wasn't the first house he'd owned and it would be unlikely to be his last.
