The Hub was an energy beam that travelled from the Sun to Uranus's north pole. Uranus's unusual rotation allowed the beam to act as a transmitter for all Federation communications. Uranus's moon Cressida made constant adjustments to the energy beam.
The asteroid Maleficent was sabotaged to collide with the Hub, but this was prevented by the Seventh Doctor. (PROSE: Uranus)
