The Next Doctor was the fifteenth feature and twenty-fourth release exclusively published in Doctor Who The Official Annual 2024 on 7 September 2023 by Penguin Group[1] and written by showrunner Russell T Davies.

This non-fictional feature was a behind the scenes sneak peak at series fourteen of Doctor Who.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

As revealed by Russell T Davies, the future of Doctor Who has Ncuti Gatwa starring as the Doctor, Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Aneurin Barnard as Roger Ap Gwilliam, and Anita Dobson and Michelle Greenidge in roles left unspecified. Davies hints at Ap Gwilliam's name having something to do with an app and the doors near Dobson and Greenidge having potential significance.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • A press statement released on 30 November 2023 revealed that Dobson and Greenidge's roles would be in The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"], as Mrs Flood and Ruby's adoptive mother Carla, respectively,[2] thus providing some context to the hints in this feature.
