Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The Sensorites are aware of the consequences if their planet was to become the target for a "gold-rush".
- The Science Halls are an area of the Sensorite city.
Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- This adaptation predated the full-length novelisation of The Sensorites from Target Books by almost eight years.
- This story consistently refers to the planet of the Sensorites as the Sense-Sphere, including a hyphen.
- This story omits any mention of John and Carol's relationship as well as Carol's second name of Richmond.
- Unlike the televised version which merely stated that Captain Maitland had agreed to take the other humans back to Earth, this story features the First Elder promising that the minds of the insane survivors would be treated before this happened. Also not present in the conclusion of the televised story, Carol, John and Maitland all swear to protect the secret of the Sense-Sphere's existence so that the Sensorites can be left in peace.
- The cliffhanger into the next story, with the Doctor threatening to evict Ian and Barbara at their next landing spot, is not included.
- This story incorrectly credits Verity Lambert as Mervyn Pinfield's co-director when in fact it was Frank Cox who directed the second half of the serial, while Lambert served as the producer. Writer Peter R. Newman's middle initial was also omitted.
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Ian is said to be a teacher, a fact which was previously prominent in PROSE: An Unearthly Child [+]Loading...["An Unearthly Child (short story)"].
