The Shadow was a universal event bought about by constant changes to the timelines by Abby and Zara. While posing no threat to the universe itself, it actively blocked higher species ability to perceive time and space from outside the universe. Those higher beings affected were later consumed by the sisters to fuel their continued changes to history causing the shadow to fall upon the whole universe. (AUDIO: The Dance)
